OOTD // Nude Colours & Black Drapery

My style pick for today is this outfit worn by my friend Sophia. Sophia is seen styling subtle nude colours with black drapery garments.

Nude colours have recently been showcased in Topshop Unique's Spring/Summer '15 evening-wear collection which consists of nude, sheer see-through dresses slightly decorated with Swarovski crystal details. This leads up towards the "barely-there" trend; as seen in the picture below staring model Cara Delevingne.
I love how Sophia has styled her outfit with a neutral coloured top and then added a bold coloured black waterfall drapery coat which adds structure to her upper body and defines her shoulders.

In art history, drapery is referred to the folds and woven patterns of loose-hanging clothing on the human, as well as ancient prototypes, and was added in conjunction to the female form by Greek vase painters and sculptors in the fifth century, and has remained an important source of styling. Large cloths with no obvious purpose were often used decoratively, especially in portraits, are this is where drapery was created. Drapery is a type of clothing that highlights the line of movement that has passed.
