Faith Popcorn // Cultural Brailing

Today I looked at how trend forecasters begin to identify future trends and how they go about researching and making development into the trend.
Trend forecaster, Faith Popcorn, is the founder of "Faith Popcorn's Brain Reserve" which is a futurist marketing consultancy, and she is documented as having a 95% accuracy rate when predicting trends.
Faith Popcorn has set up her own YouTube account where she posts videos of seminars and explains the concept and process of predicting trends. I watched two of Faith Popcorn's YouTube videos which were called "The 17 Trends" and "Idea City 2010".
In "The 17 Trends" video Faith Popcorn explained how trends are tracks for years and are tracked through human behaviour. She explained how you cannot go against trends and how the future goes in a particular way. Trends morph but do to change and companies balance positions to trends in order to leverage the future. The term "Cultural Brailing" is all about detecting and tracking changes in which the way the consumer lives.
The "Idea City 2010" video explained how consumers are becoming "savvier" and more demanding as they know how to get the latest trend and have access to it. Faith Popcorn then went onto explain how trends are predicted through senses; its all abut how we hear, see, taste, smell and touch things and how institution meets observation.
