This trend is all about how the consumer acts against technology. For example, a smart phone's news feed can deliver a constant stream of data; which drives a consumer into a playful and intelligent mindset. This trend looks at how the human connects to everyday items and how it inspires artists and designers within their work.

"Constant connections to digital devices has reached great proportions where seven billion people are now connected to the Internet and spend an average of 4-5 hours online daily." (Quote WGSN quote)

The fast speed of connectivity from devices is motivating consumers to unplug and take a 'digital detox' (avoiding technology for a certain period of time). The Spring/Summer '15 Consumer Forecast predicts consumers to take pauses from technology so they are not under the influence all the time.

Urban sculpture installations are encouraging consumers to put away their smart phones and interact with the cityscape. One example of this is Sebastian Errazuriz's "A Pause in the City that never goes to sleep" where holograph creatures interact with players; causing amusing art.
