Trend & Styling Trip // Portobello Road

09:08

As part of my research towards this Trend & Styling project, I will be visiting three locations in London which each differ in terms of culture. I will be visiting each location and looking to see what trends can be identified through the use of exploration. I will be looking to see which type of person visits these locations and how they choose to dress and what their influences are. The three locations I will be visiting in London are: Portobello Road, Kings Road and Brick Lane. The first location I will be visiting is Portobello Road. Portobello Road is a street in the Notting Hill district of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in West London.

Portobello Road has a range of different communities living in the area which all contribute to a cosmopolitan and energetic atmosphere. Portobello Road attracts an older market but also a young market. Portobello Road attracts an older market of people who are interested in its landscape and construction; its Mid-to-late Victorian terrace houses are predominant in the area with each house being tightly squeezed into available space. Whereas, Portobello Road also attracts a younger market with its brightly coloured, decorative shops selling a selection of memorable products.

On Saturdays, it is the home of Portobello market which is best known for its antiques, fashion, food, books and music. Hundreds of traders are seen selling a range of old and new products and it is great for anyone who wants to find something unique or something for a bargain. By visiting Portobello Road I am hoping to find people in different age groups who like to dress in antique garments to show off and portray the spirit of the market it holds.
