One of the things I first noticed and what stood out for me when I arrived in Amsterdam was the architecture. Amsterdam is best known for its canals and luxurious houses which are structured around the city centre. The houses in Amsterdam are designed quite narrow and tall and are detached next to one another. Some are coloured in a soft colour palette of pastel yellows, pinks, whites and browns with the occasional contrast from the bold colour of black. Its large, glazed windows and designed roofs give the houses a sophisticated and modern look and really set an example for how beautiful the city of Amsterdam is.
