Whats In // Fitness-wear

As a new year begins, many people choose to create their own New Year's resolutions in order to achieve something throughout the year. New Year's resolutions can vary from a range of different goals which can include: to lose weight, stop smoking or drink less; but for me I plan to just make 2015 a happy and productive year where I hope to get a lot done.

I have noticed that New year's resolutions have been the topic of influence on the fashion industry where many designers and retailers have created fitness clothing ranges in order to support the idea of starting 2015 off in a healthy way and improve the consumer's lifestyle. New Year's resolutions have a cultural influence where the idea originates from the Western Hemisphere (includes countries such as America and Eastern Europe) and has trended from traditions.

Fashion designer Stella McCartney has recently teamed up with Sportswear company Adidas to create a sporty yet casual collection of clothing, footwear and accessories called  "Adidas Stella Sport". The collection consists of brightly coloured tank tops with geometric cut lines and running woven shorts; all especially designed with 'Climalite' technology which keeps the body dry and comfortable by drawing moisture away from the skin.

Another example, includes online retailer Missguided who have created their own "Missguided Active" collection which consists of vests, hoodies, leggings, sports-bras and shorts. In my opinion I love the creativity within the designs of clothing, because the clothing looks appealing through the use of contrast prints and mesh panels. However, I would say the Missguided collection is designed to be more fashion-conscious than practical, like Stella McCartney's collection.

Overall, I think the fitness-wear trend is good and beneficial because it does persuade the consumer to be active and make an improvement in their lifestyle. I have to admit, it definitely persuaded me as I recently ordered myself a pair of running trainers from Nike!
