Textiles // Jersey Wear S/S '16: "Deep Summer" Trend

07:20

When researching into next years textiles trends for Spring/Summer '16 on trend forecasting website www.wgsn.com, I came across a trend called "Deep Summer".

The trend is inspired from aquatic plant-life and mineral deposits to create complexed patterns, dry textures and intricate embellishments. Luminescent yarns, glossy synthetics and high-shine satins reflect light for a dark and glamorous high-summer theme.

The colour palette for the "Deep Summer" trend are luminescent colours of orange and yellow and a sea of reflecting greens and blues.

Illuminating Glow -
Oceanic forms inspire dip-dye, transparent pleats and novelty summer tweeds that are simmered through bio luminescent dyes and yarns that appear to glow in the dark.

Coral Formations -
Underwater plant-life is the inspiration for coral formations which are made by using extra-weft suiting fabrics with intricate pattern and colour combinations or dry and scaly textures with space-dyed yarns.

Linen Surf -
The cooling properties of linen are presented in shirt stripes and unbalanced checks in tones of soft indigo, green and bleached blue.

Embellished Elegance -
Lightweight mesh and open-weave ground cloths are highly decorated with clusters of embellishment and sequins.

Liquid Sheen -
High-shine satins, glossy synthetics and iridescent micro-mesh fabrics are adapted for a glamorous, poolside elegance or sport-inspired direction.
