Catwalk // MaxMara

Instagram-girl Gigi Hadid has been everywhere this season where she has made her way onto the catwalks - most notably at MaxMara's A/W 2015 show, where she took the role of being a modern day Marilyn Monroe.

MaxMara's catwalk show was based around the concept of a romantic walk along the beach with a backdrop of waves gently playing in the background - similar to photographs taken by George Barris in 1962 of Marilyn Monroe in the same situation. The show was sensual, emotive, cosy and comforting.

The clothing itself including fluffy coats and cardigan combinations to wrap up warm with - similar yet again to past photographs of Marilyn Monroe where the star herself takes a seaside wander and is pictured pulling her coat. This became the inspiration and style of how to wear the MaxMara coats seductively when winter is set to hit later on this year.

Classic camel tones, sand, mint, powder pink and cold blue colours all featured on the catwalk. With fleecy tweeds, cashmere knits and quilting featured to make everything soft and romantic. Pencil skirts, figure-hugging dresses and bustiers featured to promote the figure as a level of sex appeal - just how Marilyn Monroe would wear it.

The show was all about protective dressing, while being practical and emotionally attached to the clothing and Gigi definitely showed this as she strutted down the catwalk!
I just find it so fascinating how Gigi was found on a social media website and since then has powered her way through to having the potential and talent to be on the catwalk. Its just amazing what social media can lead up to!
